The extensive development of infrastructure leading up to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, along with the successful hosting of the football extravaganza last year, has resulted in visitor arrivals surpassing 3.53 million in the first 11 months of the current year, as reported by Qatar Tourism.
The simplification and easing of visit visa procedures through the Hayya platform have played a crucial role in the growth of Qatar's tourism sector. Qatar grants visa-free entry to nationals from 101 countries, while others can obtain an e-visa through the Hayya platform. The government has also extended the validity of Hayya visas issued to World Cup fans until February 24, 2024.
Praising the efficient visa application process, some visitors shared positive experiences with The Peninsula. Rizwan, a resident of Saudi Arabia, highlighted the quick and straightforward process, with a visa received within 24 hours. He commended the smooth immigration process at Hamad International Airport, citing friendly and efficient staff.
Similarly, Muhammad Raheem, a UK national, lauded the easy transit visa process during his recent visit to Qatar, allowing his family to explore friends and places in a short time frame.
Kamran Yousaf, a senior journalist from Pakistan, who attended the Doha Forum 2023, expressed admiration for Qatar's transformation in recent years. He highlighted the modern infrastructure, skyscrapers, mass transportation system, and the overall safe environment, making Qatar an enticing package for any tourist.
As Qatar's winter tourism season unfolds, outdoor public spaces such as Doha Port, the Corniche, The Pearl Island, and Lusail marina promenade have become popular tourist attractions.
