Doha: The Ambassador of China to Qatar, Zhou Jian, has said that China has shared its rich experience with Qatar in containing the pandemic, including multiple versions of latest guidelines in prevention, control, diagnosis and treatment.

“We have opened an online knowledge center, held video conferences with Qatari health experts, and introduced to Qatar our experience in epidemic prevention and control, clinical treatment, and social governance,” said the Ambassador.

During an online press conference with reporters on Thursday, the Ambassador said: “We will never forget that Qatar Airways used its global network to deliver supplies to China. On the day of departure, 5 fully loaded cargo planes lined up on the runway of Hamad International Airport, with their engines roaring, each carrying 300 tonnes of medical supplies. This scene of friendship is unforgettable for me.”

Jian further said: “We have noticed that since the outbreak in Qatar, the quick response and proper measure taken by the government have achieved great success. H H the Amir puts people’s health and safety as the top priority, and has issued a series of decisive directives. We have seen the close cooperation and dedication of multiple ministries, especially the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Interior. We have also seen medical workers risk their own safety to offer patient the best medical care. We would like to express our sincere appreciation.”

He said that China will never forget the help from the Qatari people. “The Qatar Table Tennis Association welcomed the Chinese team with their world-class facilities and hospitality. A Qatari businessman made a one-time donation of nearly 100,000 masks to China. These have sent us warmth against the epidemic winter,” he said.

The Ambassador of China to Qatar, Zhou Jian, noted: “We have provided Qatar with all the help we could. The Bank of China and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) Doha Branch is donating 1 million pairs of medical gloves and 7,000 sets of protective clothing. The first batch of 200 thousand gloves was received by Qatar Charity.”

He said that all Chinese residents and companies in Qatar have played their parts to cooperate and abide by the measures of Qatari government, committed to stay-at-home campaign to ensure no infection.

“Their efforts have made double contribution to pandemic prevention both for the Chinese community and local government,” the Ambassador said.

“We will encourage more Chinese companies in Qatar to provide all the help they can,” he said, adding that the Chinese Embassy will also continue to require Chinese residents here to closely cooperate with Qatar’s prevention and control measures, and play their part to ensure “zero infection.”

“Recently, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi made an important and fruitful phone call with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani during which they exchanged views on our joint efforts to contain the pandemic.”

Giving more details about the call, the Ambassador explained that they had expressed confidence to defeat the virus. “China has managed to curb the domestic spread of COVID-19 with arduous efforts and great sacrifices, which has not only safeguarded the health and safety of its people, but also bought time and provided useful experience for the world.”

“Minister Wang said that at the toughest times of China’s anti-pandemic fight, Qatari leaders expressed support to China in the first moment, with various sectors of society donating to China,” the Ambassador said.

“China would like to express its heartfelt thanks to Qatar. Out of the tradition of mutual help and support between the two countries, the Chinese side will provide as much material assistance as possible for Qatar, and will share its anti-pandemic experience. China will stand firmly with Qatar until the final victory in the fight against COVID-19,” he added.
