Ministry of Public Health today announces 279 confirmed new cases of coronavirus (Covid-19). It also announces that the total number of people recovered from COVID-19 in the State of Qatar has reached 123. In addition one person has sadly died
Some new cases of infection are due to returning travelers from countries where the epidemic is spreading or to contacts of these travelers, including citizens and residents, in addition to new cases of infection among expats. The new infected cases are now in quarantine where they are receiving necessary medical care.
The total number of positive COVID-19 cases recorded in Qatar till now stands at 1604 and there are 1477 active cases are under treatment.
The Ministry of Public Health conducted a laboratory tests to detect the Coronavirus (COVID-19) for 3806 people today, bringing the total number of tests to 35,757 so far. This is owing to the use of new laboratory techniques and increasing the number of laboratories being used by the Ministry of Public Health. Work continues to increase the capacity of laboratories.
In addition, 14 cases of recovery were registered today, bringing the total number of people having recovered in the State of Qatar to 123.
The Ministry of Public Health announces the death of an 88-year-old Qatari citizen who was suffering from several chronic diseases and who was admitted to hospital due to acute bacterial infection in the blood which ultimately led to his death. It was discovered at the same time that he was infected with Coronavirus (COVID-19). The deceased received intensive medical care upon his arrival at the hospital on Tuesday, March 3, and was given the necessary treatment and care, but his condition deteriorated resulting in his death this morning.
The Ministry of Public Health extended its sincere condolences and great sympathy to the family of the deceased.
