Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani has expressed the chamber’s keen support to the country’s fast-growing entrepreneurship ecosystem, as well as the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector.

Sheikh Khalifa made the statement yesterday on the sidelines of the ‘3rd SMEs Conference’ organised by Qatar Chamber, in collaboration with the British embassy in Qatar and Qatar Development Bank (QDB).
On the sidelines of the two-day conference, Sheikh Khalifa conducted a tour of the exhibition hall that showcased the products and services of the participating SMEs and entrepreneurs.
Exhibitors of the “Masar Project” delivered a presentation in the presence of Sheikh Khalifa. Masar is an online platform that aims to connect companies and institutions in Qatar through a single platform that offers “all available opportunities.”
The Qatar Chamber officials also visited the booth of “Perfume Factory”, which was described as “an ambitious initiative” that aims to establish a project for manufacturing high quality perfumes.
In a press statement, Sheikh Khalifa stressed that the chamber will extend its continuous support to the country’s entrepreneurs and SMEs, which he described as “the backbone of modern economy.”
Sheikh Khalifa also affirmed that the chamber is interested to stimulate investments in SMEs that support the state’s policies aimed at achieving “economic diversification away from the dependence on oil.”
“The government and the private sector had exerted tireless efforts to enhance SMEs and increase its contribution in GDP,” stressed Sheikh Khalifa, who added that the Qatar Chamber provides support to entrepreneurs to help them start their businesses, referring to the “Maan” initiative launched by Qatar University and QDB.
Sheikh Khalifa noted that the ‘3rd SMEs Conference’, which concludes today, focuses on British expertise, “considering that Qatar and UK enjoy strong relations in all economic and commercial aspects.”
He also praised the large turnout and participation from the British side, which demonstrated the interest of companies in the UK to explore the Qatari market and discover new investment opportunities.
Sheikh Khalifa expressed hope that the event concludes with a wide range of agreements between Qatari and British companies that would establish mutual projects in both countries’ SME sector.
