Doha: Russia-based Gazprom’s Management Committee Deputy Chairman and Export Director General Elena Burmistrova will tackle the changing dynamics of natural gas at the Gas Exporting Countries Forum’s (GECF) Monthly Gas Lecture today at 2:30pm (Doha time).

The online lecture, entitled “Natural Gas: New Market Realities or Temporary Impediment?”, will feature the perspective of the world’s largest gas producer on the changed business environment due to COVID-19 and the obstacles it may present on the road to recovery.

The Russian energy giant (Gazprom) holds the world’s largest natural gas reserves and the company’s share in the global and Russian gas reserves amounts to 16 percent and 71 percent, respectively. It accounts for 12 percent of the global gas output and 68 percent of domestic gas production.

Russia is one of the founding members of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, which, as a coalition of 20 of the leading gas producing nations, promotes the use of natural gas as a fuel of choice for a world aiming to achieve net-zero emissions.

The Lecture series is a platform for industry leaders and experts to share their knowledge on contemporary issues related to the gas industry and its interconnected influencers of geopolitics and economy.
