Yesterday, the General Assembly of the Arab Chess Federation (ACF) unanimously elected Qatar’s Mohamed Al Mudahka as Vice-President during its meeting in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

The gathering, attended by representatives from 21 Arab federations, led to the establishment of the Executive Office of the Board of Directors of the ACF, with Emirati Sheikh Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi at the helm.

Al Mudahka, also serving as the President of the Qatar Chess Federation, expressed the new executive office's aspirations to bolster the standing of Arab chess on both continental and international fronts. He outlined that the upcoming inaugural meeting would delve into various topics concerning the game's future in the region.

In a statement, Al Mudahka conveyed the Arab Federation's commitment to elevating the game by broadening participation in federation-organized tournaments and fostering the development of competitions for younger age groups.

Acknowledging the pivotal role played by the Federation of Arab Sports Federations in the electoral process, Al Mudahka stated that the General Assembly expressed gratitude for their efforts aimed at enhancing chess in the Arab region.

The assembly also elected three additional vice-presidents: Ali Abbas from Syria, Ibrahim Jalloul from Algeria, and Fawzi Bou Raja from Libya. Furthermore, four candidates secured membership in the Executive Office: Dr. Sabri Abdel Mawla from Yemen, Rawad Hamoud from Lebanon, Sidi Muhammad Taj al-Din from Mauritania, and Mustafa Amzal from Morocco.
