In line with the back-to-school plan announced by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE), the first semester of the next academic year will apply blended learning. 

In an official statement, the Ministry stated that the move came after close coordination with the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) on the necessary precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, as well as the virus infection rates in Qatar. 

"It also aims to mitigate the academic consequences of the school closures and delay of the new academic year," MOEHE said in a statement. 

On Twitter, MOEHE informed that blended Learning is an educational approach that combines online learning and in-person teaching in the classroom. In this approach, the Ministry stated that students will attend classes 1-3 times per week to do coursework, experiments, and exams. 

Some important points regarding student attendance include:

- Students will be informed about blended learning approach in schools from September 1-3.

- During the first term, schools will receive only 30% of its students capacity to attend in-person classes on daily basis.

- Each school will inform the concerned parents through SMS about the in-school days of attendance for each student.

- Each student should attend in-person one to three classes per week, as assigned by the school.

Some important points about distance learning include:

- 6 sessions per day

- Distance learning will include recorded lessons 

- Session duration will be 15 to 20 minutes

- Access Qlearning

- MS Teams App

- Daily/ weekly assessment

Furthermore, the Ministry also stated that students must have usernames and passwords to watch recorded lessons and complete assessments on Qlearning portal.

Parents shall also provide computers for their child(ren), and make sure they have the username and password. Parents must also create a convenient environment and offer their child(ren) support and guidance. 

For technical support, MOEHE encourages citizens and residents to dial the hotline, 155. 

The Ministry also reminded citizens and residents to observe precautionary measures to help control the spread of the novel Coronavirus.
