The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 opening ceremony will begin on November 20 at 5pm, two hours before Qatar take on Ecuador in the tournament's opening match. 

On Thursday, Khalid Al Mawlawi, Deputy Director General, Marketing, Communications & Event Experience at the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), announced that the venue's gates would open at 3pm.    

In an interview with The Peninsula, Al Mawlawi encouraged fans to arrive early to avoid inconveniences. 

All ticket holders should arrive at least two hours before the opening ceremony begins.

Al Mawlawi said, “Let's wait and see what happens during the opening ceremony.” 

According to him, the competing teams will begin arriving in Qatar on November 7, with Japan arriving first.
