‘Q-Learning’ Recorded 839,351 Text Messages Between Teachers And Students On March 31

The distance learning system of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education ‘Q-Learning’ has recorded exchange of 839,351 text messages between teachers and students of virtual classes on March 31.

Over 100,000 more text messages were sent compared to March 30, 2020 when 738,161 text messages were exchanged, said the Ministry in the statistics posted on its social site. Over 123,310 students logged in the Microsoft-Teams app out of 124,000 students, enrolled in government schools during the period of study. The system recorded 11,653 calls between teachers and students through Microsoft- Teams. The hotline 155 received 825 calls, 818 calls were responded at the rate of 3 to 5 minutes duration per call.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education is running a Distance Learning Portal, a platform that allows students and parents in government schools in the State of Qatar to obtain distance learning services offered by the Ministry.

The platform helped unify learning process within a unified and integrated umbrella to meet all requirements to ensure the quality of learning. Parents and students can access the link to get any information about downloading the Microsoft-Teams program, how to login and do the homework, as well as remote video lessons divided according to the classes at the link: https://qlearning.edu. gov.qa/.

To ensure a smooth educational process and to enhance partnership between the parents and the schools, educational plans and the weekly class schedule are being published by the Ministry on daily basis which includes contents of four illustrated subjects and daily and weekly assessments that the students answer to ensure assimilation on the ministry’s website and online program. Tables will also be sent through SMS to parents to follow their children.

The Ministry, taking into account these exceptional circumstances, gave the students a privilege to avail the lessons and revise them at any time, which gives parents an opportunity to support their children in learning by sparing time for them to access the platforms according to their grades.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education is providing technical support to implement distance learning for schools and parents to overcome challenges in the system, and technical support is available on the hotline 155.
