Doha: With its dramatic topography and panoramic views, Katara Hills continues to attract visitors looking to start their day with their morning walks, spend a refreshing and quiet time in a green space or simply snap some Instagrammable shots.

Divided into the Southern and Northern Hills spanning around 361,500 sq metres, Katara Hills is considered one of the largest public parks in Doha featuring manmade rolling hills, valleys, peaks, cool meadows and trees.

Katara Hills provides a natural dimension to Katara as a cultural destination well-known for its theatres, concert halls, and art galleries which play host to innumerable cultural events and activities throughout the year.

An important element of Katara as a tourist destination, Katara Hills uniquely offer 360-degree scenic views of the Katara waterfront, the amphitheatre, and its distinct buildings, as well as of the city including hotels and a number of its breathtaking structures nearby.

The beautifully manicured colourful gardens and lawns are some of Katara Hills’ many attractions. Hundreds of trees from different parts of the world have been grown in the hills, and each of the trees has been properly labeled with its name for the knowledge of the visitors.

Open from 5am till 12 midnight, the Southern Hills makes a perfect venue for overall fitness with its 2.8km rubberized exercise and jogging track which meanders around the hills. There are also a number of wooden benches where visitors can take a rest under the natural shade of trees.

In February this year, the Southern Hills successfully hosted its first major event — the inaugural Al Wasmi Garden Festival.

Around 150,000 people visited the five-day festival which featured international gardens, and outstanding entrances and designs inspired by five countries including Qatar, France, Great Britain, India, and Japan.

The Northern Hills, on the other hand, highlights several distinct features, facilities and attractions such as the Bayt El Talleh restaurant which captivates diners for the combination of scrumptious food, chic interior and an outdoor dining experience which offers a spectacular view overlooking Katara and its surrounding areas.

As winter season nears, Katara Hills is sure to be a major destination for those in search of alternative parks to visit to relax, be fit and get close to nature apart from highly popular venues such as the Doha Corniche and Aspire Park among others.
