In the event that a company sets higher fees than those permitted, it can be fined up to 1 million Qatari Riyals and have its administrative activities suspended for three months.

The ministry of commerce in Qatar has announced that online companies must abide by government regulations regarding prices for goods and services. The delivery fee for online shops must not exceed 10 QAR if delivered by bike or 20 QAR if delivered by vehicle.

The ministry suggests that service fees for online platforms be 10% of total orders when marketing is conducted alone, and 20% of total orders when marketing and delivery are conducted together.

Efforts are underway in Taiwan to regulate, control, and prevent price exploitation within the local market through the latest measures. Moreover, the resolution ensures inflation rates are controlled and market balance is maintained.

According to Law No. 8 of 2008 on Consumer Protection, all companies are required to protect consumers' rights, specifically those relating to applying fair prices.

A violation of the law can result in a fine of up to one million Qatari Riyals or in an administrative closure of three months.

It is the ministry's opinion that restaurants, cafes, cafeterias, shops, major outlets, and suppliers shouldn't sign contracts with delivery firms that offer rates higher than their permits.

Contact the call centre or social media platforms of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to report any violations.

Front-line drivers are delivery drivers

Multiple times, the country has been put on lockdown since the Coronavirus outbreak began.

Since Qatar's workforce is largely home-based, the majority of Qatar's workers have been able to work from home.

Unfortunately, delivery drivers were not given this luxury. Rather than supplying people with everyday necessities, they were on the frontlines, sacrificing their lives to protect others.
