he second installment of the Visit Qatar Kite Festival is set to take place from January 25 to February 3, 2024, at Old Doha Port. This festival promises a stunning exhibition of giant kites flown by 60 participants worldwide, with support from strategic partner Qatar Tourism and venue partner Old Doha Port.
Choosing the historical backdrop of Old Doha Port adds to the festival's allure, blending rich heritage with modern amenities against the impressive West Bay skyline. The event, held in front of the cruise terminal, aims to captivate international passengers during the bustling cruise season.
Over ten days, the festival will offer various family-friendly activities, including flying displays of colorful kites, an inflatables games area by Celebration Palace, an international cuisine food court, and free kite building workshops led by Iqbal Husain, a seasoned kite-flying professional who participated in the Qatar Balloon Festival.
Organized by Safe Flight Solutions, known for the Qatar Balloon Festival series, and its online platform asfary.com, this event made its successful debut in March 2023 and is making a return due to popular demand.
Captain Hassan Al-Mousawi, CEO of Safe Flight Solutions, envisions community events like the Visit Qatar Kite Festival contributing to Qatar's long-term goals of fostering cultural exchange and community bonding.
Registration for the free-of-charge kite-building workshops, led by Iqbal Husain, will soon be open on vqikf.com. However, seats are limited, so early registration is recommended, according to the organizers.
