Qatar received 729,000 visitors in the first half of this year, up 19% from the total number of visitors during 2021.

Qatar Tourism reported that international visitors last June reached 149,000, the highest number in summer months for the country in five years, according to Al Sharq newspaper.

In June, Saudi Arabia topped the list of visitors with 26 percent of the total, followed by India with 10 percent, the US and Oman with 5 percent each, and the UAE, Kuwait and the UK with 4 percent.

A stronger inflow of tourists is expected in the second half of 2022 in Qatar, which hosts this year's FIFA World Cup.

Qatar Tourism launched its "Experience a World Beyond" campaign last November, targeting 17 of the world's top visitor source markets.
