A new initiative to support people with special needs has been launched in Qatar.

In a statement released by the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau (CSGDB), people with special needs had their daily working hours reduced by an hour.

In a tweet, the bureau announced that people with special needs can arrive half an hour after the official working hours start and leave half an hour before they end.

According to the CSGDB, the rule is in accordance with Article 73 of the Civil Human Resources Law No. 15 of 2016.

Qatar has a population of less than 0.50 percent with disabilities.

The Qatari government requires that 2 percent of all jobs in government agencies and public institutions be reserved for disabled people. People with disabilities are also required to be hired by private businesses with a minimum of 25 employees.
